Scott, Beadworx's Scottish Terrier beaded glass figurine, is one of our favorites. This small, compact, short-legged, long & wiry haired sturdy breed is well-captured in the detailed beadwork & wire sculpture. Known for their feisty & alert, quick of movement mannerisms, Scotties are also referred to as "diehards" for the rugged and endless determination that many Scottie owners know & love them for. Artist Kristen Appleton uses the art of wire bending to create her innovative and fantastic sculptures. She first worked in Africa with teams of artisans to interpret her amazing designs through this traditional African art. She utilizes her understanding of shape and form to realize her vision and to bring you Beadworx: a whimsical handcrafted line of beaded sculptures inspired by nature. The process of wire bending is an intricate and difficult art requiring great strength and skill. To interpret her vision, a frame of galvanized wire is painstakingly made and then woven with a rainbow of bright and colorful glass beads bringing to life this amazing collection. Her fantastic sculptures are now produced by a team of skilled artisans trained in this very labor intensive craft.
Made from galvanized wire, the sculptures can be used outdoors.
