" The Sea! The Sea! The deep blue sea", as Grandma used to recite in her old age. lines learned from early years in school decades long ago. This apron evokes such memories whether or not we can get down to the sea this summer.
Google is our friend, we're told, and so today it served up on an internet wave the original poem [no author given] Song of the Sea The Sea! The Sea! The deep blue sea. So cool and fresh and always free, With many leaps and many bounds. Against the rocky shore it pounds. Then in and out the rocks it swirls, And round the jagged peaks it whirls, The foam-flecked waves ride in and out And hack and forth and round about. At night when all is calm and still. When the moon comes slowly o’er the hill, There seems to be a moonlit way Across the waters of the bay.
